Join me for an evening with acclaimed author Cyra McFadden on Monday, October 19. The program starts at 7 p.m. at Folio Books, located at 3957 24th Street in San Francisco, and is part of the Odd Mondays cultural salon, which I co-curate.

We’ll take a look back at The Serial, Cyra’s sharp-witted, best-selling spoof of life in mellow Marin County, circa 1977. So get your act together, come let it all hang out, and get in touch with how surprisingly relevant this satirical novel still remains today. Maybe we haven’t come as far as we thought, after all …

The evening will include:

  • Dramatic readings from The Serial
  • Cyra in conversation with me about what she is reading and writing and her thoughts on today’s publishing world
  • A reading by Cyra from her Pulitzer Prize-nominated family memoir, Rain or Shine
  • Q&A with the audience

Be hip, hang loose, and join us. Halter tops and hip-huggers optional.
